DNG 5.0.1

I have recently installed DNG 5.0.1 from Jazz.net and so far the experience was great: the setup process was simpler, installation was faster and most importantly the Reportable REST API seems to be considerably faster. I understand that the schemas contain additional information that make template design simpler and I’m sure there are many other useful features I’m yet to discover.

All in all 5.0.1 looks to be a great release so kudos to the DNG team.

Update 13:56

I want to put some numbers next to the perceived performance improvements. Publishing a 144 pages Word document with all the requirements (https://giediprime:9443/rm/publish/text/*) from the JKE Banking example takes ~34 seconds with RPE 1.3 and DNG 5.0.1 out of which ~24 is data retrieval.

Publishing a single requirement (https://giediprime:9443/rm/publish/text?resourceURI=_ca9e1108e8eb4473811c2501d5a87968) takes 1 second out of which data the retrieval time is 0.3 seconds.

In my tests RPE and DNG are running on the same machine so in a real usage scenario network latency has to be considered.  Even so this  shows that DNG is now much faster when it comes to serving the data.

The system is an I5 2400 ( Sandy Bridge), 8MB RAM running Tomcat 7×64 on a Windows 7×64.

  2. This is strange. The special characters in password should not affect this scenario ( running the reports from DNG) since DNG 5,0.1 uses RRDG 1.2.1.1 and this issue is introduced with RPE 1.3. Can you try running the report with your regular user name and password? If the error persists please check the rrdg and dng error logs on the server.

  3. I thought we had figured it out, but it is still crashing. will take a look at logs.

  4. Here is the last errors received, but I have not changed anything as to how the datasource is configured from 4.0.6 other than pointing to the new schemas, unless they have moved things in the _text schema. There are NO _usecasediagrams, _storyboards, or _comments in the report I am running so not sure why it is even asking for them.
Data source _text is not configured correctly so its queries are ignored.
Data source _usecasediagrams is not configured correctly so its queries are ignored.
Data source _storyboards is not configured correctly so its queries are ignored.
Data source _comments is not configured correctly so its queries are ignored.

  5. Michele, can you share your template with me here or on devWorks forum? Even if you strip down most things it would be important to see the Dynamic Data Sources elements and how they are configured.

  6. Hi,
I am not sure whether I am asking the question in the right thread or not.
Summary: Newly added custom values not generated in RPE generated report even after restarting the Jazz Team Server

    How did I do ?

    1. add a custom attribute called “docSecurityLevel” in Artifact Attributes from “Manage Project Properties” option
    2. Add/assign the same attributes to the software requirement under
“Artifact Types” from “Manage Project Properties” option
    3. Go to Module in DNG and edit software requirement and set values for status and docSecurityLevel
    4. RPE : Add a container with value “datasource/artifact/collaboration/attributes/objectType/customAttributes”
    5. add a container insiode that to assign values for Status attribute
    using the “datasource/artifact/collaboration/attributes/objectType/customAttribute
    s/LietralName” [condition name == “Status” ]

    6. add a container insiode that to assign values for docSecurityLevel
attribute using the “datasource/artifact/collaboration/attributes/objectType/customAttributes/LietralName” [condition name == “docSecurityLevel ” ]
    7. Generate report
    8. Values from status attribute is printed in the document but not the
    value from docSecurityLevel attributes.

Please note that I tried https://SERVER:9443/rm/publish/initialize and
tried to restart Jazz Server but nothing helped me.
Please help me to solve this problem.
    Thanks & Regards,

    1. Hey Kasilingam,

I suggest looking at the data RPE receives. See this for information on how to do that: https://rpeactual.com/2013/11/22/how-to-get-the-xml-data-used-by-rpe/

Also check these articles for tips on debugging docgen errors: https://rpeactual.com/?s=debug

But this kind of questions is better suited for the RPE DevWorks forum located here: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/forums/html/forum?id=11111111-0000-0000-0000-000000001512

      Regards,
      Dragos
