Test Reporting with IBM Rational DOORS and IBM Rational Quality Manager

A very well written article based on many years of deploying Rational solutions.

Test documentation frequently have a need to report on test artifacts as well as the associated requirements. If test execution fails, one would like to know which requirements are impacted. Generating such documentation using the IBM Rational Publishing Engine in conjunction with IBM Rational Quality Manager and IBM Rational DOORS in a straightforward way leads to a solution that does not scale, nor does it guarantee completion of the report. Failure to generate test documentation in due time may imply failure to meet a project deadline, which in turn may have contractual consequences in the worst case. In this blog I shall briefly present a solution that works well even for large test plans with many traces between IBM Rational Quality Manager test artifacts on the one hand and IBM Rational DOORS requirement (modules) on the other.

Lets set the scene first. Test artifacts such as test plans…

Plan Ahead and Act Proficiently for Reporting

Plan Ahead and Act Proficiently for Reporting covers the most important lessons we learned in almost 7 years  of implementing document generation with Rational tools.

Many thanks to Dr. Einar Karlsen for his pioneering work with RPE which  is distilled into this material. Unfortunately  for reasons outside his control Dr. Karlsen will not attend Interconnect this year so I am tasked with sharing this wonderful information alone.

Looking forward to see you on Monday, 22nd of Feb from 12PM.

[non-RPE] Film making – a fun challenge

First of all, please excuse the exaggeration from the title. This is about a 2 minute video I had to make describing a challenge in my IBM career.

Creating the video turned out to be a big challenge by itself, but a very fun and educative one. 10 script versions, 53 takes and 5 filming locations later I have a totally different appreciation for good, short videos made by non-professionals.

The Interconnect “how to promote yourself” video has some very nice tips applicable to anyone trying to make such videos.
