3 minute videos

We’ve recorded a number of short videos showing how to deploy RPE. They are just long enough to keep you entertained while boiling eggs for breakfast.

Resolving installation failure of RPE 1.3 and 2.0 on Windows 64 bit

If the installation of RPE 1.3 or 2.0 on Windows 64-bit fails with “You cannot update a 64-bit version of Installation Manager to a 32-bit version” please read this: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21698550

Installing RPE 2.0 – 64 bit Thick Clients

The installation procedure for RPE 2.0 Thick Clients is mostly unchanged from previous versions.  The only notable change is the ability to install 64 bit versions of RPE Launcher and RPE Document Studio for all supported OSes.For more information please consult the Planning the installation section in the RPE Infocenter.

NOTE: for 64 bit Linux only the 64 bit RPE installation is supported.

To install the 64 bit version you need to select the appropriate architecture in the installation wizard.  Your choice is reflected in the architecture column.

Install RPE 1.3 from the online repository

To install RPE you can download the RPE image and install from the local repository or you can install directly from the online repository. You can use this option both for fresh installs as well as for upgrading from supported versions of RPE.

The procedure is fairly straightforward:

  1. start Installation Manager
  2. open the Add Repository page ( File > Preferences > Add Repository)
  3. in the repository field enter https://www.ibm.com/software/repositorymanager/com.ibm.rational.rpe.offering/repository.xml
  4. enter your IBM ID and password
  5. close the preferences window
  6. choose the Install option

NOTE: RPE 1.3 requires Installation Manager 1.7.3 so if you have an older version,  Installation Manager will first update itself.
